In 1889, during a visit to Naples, Queen Margherita of Italy was served a pizza resembling the colors of the Italian flag, red (tomato), white (Cheese) and green (basil). This kind of pizza has been named after the Queen as Pizza Margherita.
Ingredients
- 1 Pre-made whole wheat thin pizza crust
- 1 medium tomato sliced thinly
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil chopped
- Desired amount of crumbled feta cheese
- Desired amount grated parmesan cheese
- Olive oil
Preparation
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
- Place pizza crust on a cookie sheet or cooking stone
- Brush the pizza crust with olive oil
- Arrange sliced tomatoes, chopped basil and cheese on the crust
- Bake for 10 minutes or to desired crispness
